Eliza Gosse presents her second exhibition with OLSEN Gallery, Entertainer’s Delight with Ocean Views. The solo presentation of new paintings on canvas and paper will be installed against trompe l’oeil wall stickers of the artist’s own design.
Entertainer’s Delight with Ocean Views borrows from the glossy pages of Architectural Digest, a famed American home interiors and landscaping magazine founded in the 1920s. From her preferred vintage issues, Gosse has borrowed retro imagery and over-blown textual excerpts to inspire each new composition. Playfully inhabiting the voice of AD, the artist has crafted her own captions to accompany the featured paintings – “colours of sky blue and warm red upholstery were selected to accent the mood” reads one, “ocean views can be glimpsed beyond,” claims another.
Entertainer’s Delight with Ocean Views will be current at OLSEN Annexe September 6–16.
